Bodhisattva Samantabhadra (Puxian)-means universal virtue. He is often depicted riding a six-tusked elephant. The elephant's six tusks represent the six paramitas: Charity, Morality, Patience, Diligence, Meditation, and Wisdom.

To achieve merits and virtues, one should cultivate the following Bodhisattva Samantabhadra’s “Ten vast and great practices and vows”:
-()-
[FIRST-], Pay homage and respect to all Buddhas.
[SECOND-], Praise the Thus Come Ones.
[THIRD-], Make abundant offerings.
[FOURTH-], Repent misdeeds and evil karma.
[FIFTH-], Rejoice at others' merits and virtues.
[SIXTH-], Request the Buddhas to turn the Dharma wheel.
[SEVENTH-], Request the Buddhas to remain in the world.
[EIGHTH-], Follow the teachings of the Buddhas at all times.
[NINTH-], Accommodate and benefit all living beings.
[TENTH-], Transfer all merits and virtues universally."
