Venerable Shengguang Shi is the Abbot of Xu Yun Chán Temple. He follows the teaching of Grand Chán Master Xuyun and received Dharma Transmission through Ven. Elder Jinghui. He is now staying at XuYun Chán Temple, which is located at 4465 Sheppard Ave. E., Unit 39, Scarborough, Ontario). Venerable Shengguang Shi was formerly the Deputy Abbot of Cham Shan Temple in Thornhill, Ontario, Canada from 2005 to 2012.
On May 12, 2008, he made a 135 km pilgrimage from Cham Shan Temple to the future site of the Wutai Shan Temple in Peterborough. He bowed to the ground once every three steps along the way. The purpose of the pilgrimage was to pray for: world peace, the early completion of the four temples in Peterborough, and the enlightenment of everyone.
Venerable Shengguang Shi was born in Hong Kong and migrated to Canada in 1988. He was educated in Hong Kong and France and went to the University of Hong Kong. He holds an MBA and has worked in the information technology sector for over 20 years.
Venerable Shengguang Shi took the Three Grand Precepts in Zhanshan Temple in China to become a monk.

Two years ago, Ven. Shengguang Shi received Dharma Transmission directly from Elder Dharma Master Jing Hui (净慧长老) who in turn, received direct Dharma Transmission from Dharma Master Xu Yun.
